WELLINGTON'S talented defender Mark Cornish will be sidelined for another fortnight after suffering a serious illness.

Cornish went down with pneumonia at the end of the year and missed Wellington's 5-1 home defeat against Nailsea & Tickenham last weekend.

The result was described as 'very frustrating' by assistant player manager Jack Porter who added: "We were the better side for much of the first half but then switched off."

Meanwhile Wellington Town are out of Western Counties Floodlit Youth League’s Roger Stone Memorial Cup after losing 3-1 at home to Bishops Lydeard on a icy night at the Playing Field, all the goals coming in the second half.

Wellington found themselves 3-0 down to Lydeard, who play in the Premier Division, before top scorer Freddie Margetts netted 20 minutes from the end.

The home side had the better of the play towards the end but could not break down Lydeard's well-marshalled defence.

Wellington are back playing in Division South next Thursday when they are away to Axminster Town.
