SOMERSET claimed a last-ball victory against Yorkshire in the third place play off of the Abu Dhabi Counties Super Cup.

Needing 18 off the final over, Tom Abell and Ben Green saw their side over the line by three wickets.

Chasing 199 to win, Somerset lost James Rew to the second ball of the innings, but a half century stand for the second wicket between Abell and young Archie Vaughan, got the Cidermen back on track.

Vaughan made 35 from just 28 balls before falling with the scoreboard showing 62 for two.

Abell and Josh Thomas then added 20 before Aldridge helped the former Somerset skipper take the total to three figures.

George Thomas (23 from 12) and Fin Hill (11 from 8) made useful contributions, but it was Abell who was the standout performer.

Throughout his innings he unleashed a full array of shots.

Green joined Abell with Somerset on 176 for seven with just eight balls remaining.

Green dispatched his first ball from Matthew Fisher to the boundary for four and then claimed a single off the final ball of the penultimate over.

Mickey Edwards was thrown the ball with Yorkshire still in the ascendancy, but Green and Abell had other ideas.
