WELLINGTON Cricket Club have completed the signing of Australian wicketkeeper/batsman Kayden Hine as their overseas player for next season, writes David Derrick.
Kayden, who will be 20 by the time be arrives in the UK, comes from Hobart in Tasmania where he plays for South Hobart Sandy Bay CC and is currently playing in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League for his club’s 1st XI, having made the step up from 2nd XI cricket recently.
He has been selected for the Tasmanian High Performance squads at both Under 17 and Under 19 levels.
An ability to occupy the crease for long periods saw the Red and Blacks become interested in Kayden’s availability for 2017 and, pleasingly, both parties have been able to agree terms and conditions and signed contracts were exchanged last week.
As well as playing a lot of cricket while he is at Wellington for the 1st, Sunday and Midweek sides Kayden will also be involved in such matters as ground works and coaching the club’s youth section.
Kayden is set to arrive by Wednesday, April 12, next year and will be present until mid-September.
