WELLINGTON will be looking to end a run of four successive losses when they play away to Wembdon in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, August 9.
Wellington have slipped to seventh in the table, although they are well clear of the relegation zone where Shapwick & Polden and Butleigh appear to be doomed. Wembdon are one place below Wellington, having won only five of their 14 matches.
Wellington have lost twice to Taunton Deane in the past few days, including a 13-run defeat in the final of the 20-overs a side Baker Cup cricket competition at Taunton. It was their fourth appearance in the final and they have yet to win the trophy.
Wellington 2nd XI, 17 points adrift of leaders West Monkton in Division Two of the Somerset League, are home to sixth-placed Ilton, while Wellington 3rd XI are away to Taunton St Andrews B XI in Division Seven Red.
Meanwhile, champions Ashbrittle will be out to stay in touch with the leaders in the first division of the West Somerset League when they play at home to fourth-placed Bagborough. Last season’s winners are 57 point behind unbeaten tabletoppers Watchet with five games to play.
Watchet entertain East Huntspill who are lying sixth, while second-placed Kilve are away to Bridgetown.
In Division Two, leaders Crowcombe will be looking to take another step towards the title when they play at home to Sampford Arundel who are lying second but have a game in hand on their rivals. However, Crowcombe are 84 points clear at the top of the table.
In Division Three, Hemyock will be chasing their tenth win when they play at home to Ashbrittle’s second string, while second-placed Cutcombe are also home - to Bishops Hull. Cannington, who have the same number of points as Cutcombe, are away to struggling Stoodleigh.
