ARRON Campbell is the new club and 1st XI captain of Wellington Cricket Club following a unanimous vote at the club’s AGM on Tuesday of last week at the ‘Long Hop’ Bar, writes David Derrick

Campbell, who succeeds Alex Sparks who stepped down at the end of last season after four seasons, has held captaincies at Sunday XI and Midweek XI levels since 2015 and did similarly through the youth ranks. Luke Desave will continue as vice-captain.

Rob Moysey retains the captaincy of the 2nd XI and has a new Vice-captain in Ryan Adams, who takes on his first such role.

Des Campbell as captain and Richard Henwood as vice-Captain will oversee the 3rd XI again.

All three teams will play on Saturdays in the Somerset League - in the Premier Division, Division Four and Division Seven South respectively.

Macaulay Campbell will captain the Sunday XI in Division A of the Taunton and District League and some non-league matches too and where Midweek cricket is concerned Jack Beal will once more run the team as it plays social evening T20 matches with local sides.

Last season’s Club Young Player of the Year Oli Beale will be vice-captain on both Sundays and Midweek.
