SOMERSET County Cricket Club’s international spinner Jack Leach has signed a new two-year contract extension, which will see him remain at the Cooper Associates County Ground until at least the end of the 2028 season.

After working his way through the Somerset Age Group Pathway Jack, who is 34 years old, made his First XI debut against South Africa in 2012.

He was awarded his County Cap in 2017 and has gone on to represent the club on 156 occasions across the formats, claiming 427 wickets. He has been equally impressive at international level, taking 142 wickets in 39 Tests for England.

Jack was the county’s leading wicket-taker in 2025, claiming 52 scalps at 22.78, with a best of 7 for 89,

After committing his future to the club he supported as a child, Jack said: “I’m really pleased to have made this commitment to the club that I love. I’ve always said that Somerset is my home, and I mean it. I wouldn’t want to be playing my cricket anywhere else.

“Representing this club, the region plus our members and supporters means everything to me and hopefully we can give everyone plenty to cheer about in the next few years.”
