THE Sampford Blues FC reunion and fun cricket afternoon raised £425 for Taunton’s Musgrove Park Beacon Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The 20/20 cricket game was played in great spirit with many past team managers, players, their children, officials, and special guest local football referee Martin Baldock not issuing any cards!

It all came down to the last over with The Blues’ team triumphant with two balls to spare with a total of 125 runs. A great afternoon was had by all, with the many faces of the years gone by who had donned a Sampford Blues shirt that spanned 25 years! All remincising of days gone by.

A massive thank-you goes to everyone who attended, supported and contributed to the success of the event, especially those who managed the BBQ and raffle, which was a great success too! Special thanks also goes to Brompton Ralph Cricket Club for being outstanding hosts on the day!

Nick Buttle said: “It was certainly a special day - especially for those who have not seen each other in recent years. The club enjoyed some very good times and players enjoyed playing for one of its sides.”

The Blues, as they were always known, were formed in June, 1990, during the football World Cup, at the Blue Ball Inn, Sampford Moor.

At one time the club fielded three men’s teams who competed in the Taunton Saturday and Sunday Football Leagues with their final game being played in April, 2015.

The club was a prominent figure in the local community withy many players donning the Blue and Black shirt that was exclusively sponsored by Bussell Plant during its history.

The reunion offered the opportunity for all to get together for a very last time - and to enjoy a fun cricket match.
