WELLINGTON Cricket Club’s taster evening for female cricketers proved a great success with 17 keen cricketers attending the session at the Playing Field last Monday evening.

The session was led by Sophie Luff from the Somerset Cricket Board, assisted by Nicole Sparks, Megan Beale and Jake Nichol from the club.

Sophie filled the hour -long session with a variety of activities designed to improve cricket skills but the main emphasis was on having fun.

A club spokesman said: “There is obviously a demand for some form of cricket for females and the club are looking to see how this can be met’.” In the meantime it is hoped that it will be possible to organise another session later in the summer.
