LAND Girls have won the KO Cup in the Wellington Ladies Skittles League.
They gained a 25-pin victory in the final on Monday night over Jolly Blues who went into the match chasing a league and cup double.
Star of the show was Land Girls’ Heather Kynaston who top scored in the final at the football club with a splendid 65, which included spares of 15 and 17.
Going on first, Land Girls led by only five pins at the half-way stage before coming down with a hand of 80, putting them very much in the driving seat. Scores: Land Girls 375 (Heather Kynaston 65), Jolly Blues 350 (Danielle Campbell 51).
Meanwhile, Split Pins and Jolly Blues clash in a top of the table match on Monday, March 2.
With only three games remaining, reigning champions and current leaders Jolly Blues have a slender one-point lead over Split Pins.
Land Girls, who are five points behind the Blues in third spot, play LOA Spare and must win their last three matches to stand any chance of winning the title.
At the other end of the table, Geronimo go into their away match against All Blacks still without a victory after 17 games. Geronimo have only three more games in which to pull off a victory but they cannot avoid finishing on the bottom of the ten-team division.
