WELLINGTON Rugby Club's head coach Bradley Field is to undergo shoulder surgery next month.
Field, who played professional rugby for Hartpury College, Gloucester and Doncaster Knights, suffered a muscle tear while playing at fly half for Wellington before Christmas.
Despite turning 40 Field, who took over as head coach from Graham Dawe last summer, is not planning to retire. "I intend to play again next season if all goes well," said Field.
Meanwhile, Wellington have a home game against Wadebridge Camels in Regional Two South West on Saturday, February 14 (2.30p.m.).
Wellington go into the game still in search of their first win of the season while Camels are in third place, with ten victories from 16 matches. Wellington lost 66-10 when they played away to Camels in October.
Field says there is an improvement in numbers attending training sessions but he would still like to see 'more commitment' from players.
