WELLINGTON’S three-times postponed Les Phillips Cup quarter-final away against Cheddar has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 17.
Under the rules of the competition, Wellington have already lost home advantage following postponements because of rain.
All told, Wellington’s last five matches have been called off because of bad weather, and club chairman Mike Hall admitted: “It’s very frustrating - but there’s nothing we can do about it.
“Obviously, we would like to be playing - but we don’t want to damage the pitch at the Playing Field.
“”We’re certainly going to be busy between now and the end of the season. We have to cram in a lot of games and, of course, we have to be off the Playing Field at the end of April.
“Not playing means you are not generating much income. We still have to pay the running costs of the clubhouse and fortunately we do have the money to do that. But some clubs are finding it very difficult.”
Meanwhile, weather permitting, Wellington will be hoping to get back into action with a home game against tenth-placed Bradford Town in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League on Saturday, February 14 (3p.m.).
After the Cheddar cup-tie, they have home games against Brislington (Feb 21) and Street (Feb 25).
Wellington Reserves, who have not played since they drew 2-2 away to Clyst Valley at the beginning of the New Year, have an away game against leaders Winkleigh in the Premer Division of the Devon & Exeter League on Saturday, February 14. Welington are lying fourth.
Wellington A, who lost 9-2 to Dunwear United in their latest game, play fellow strugglers Wyvern United in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League at Court Fields School on Saturday (2p.m.).
Wellington Wildcats play away to Nailsea United in the first division of the Somerset Women’s League on Sunday.
