WELLINGTON Cricket Club’s Past Players Association officers and committee members have met to consider their work in 2016 and to plan for 2017 when they are looking to hold one event per month in the club’s main playing months of May - August inclusive, writes Association member David Derrick.

2016 saw the well-established AGM and Lunch and Evening Barbecue events take place with excellent attendance and interaction on offer and there was involvement with Club Day’s play after the lunch in that event too.

For the first time since its formation in 2012 the Association played in a full 11 a side game when it took on a Club Chairman’s XI in a T20 Challenge Match in June and this event was one to savour both on and off the field of play as a glorious evening’s weather complemented an excellent social opportunity and good play.

The planned Day Out at Somerset CCC did not take place in 2016 due to there been no play available on the day planned for the Association’s visit, so a visit to a group match in the One Day Cup in June is to be set up for 2017.
