WELLINGTON will be looking to maintain their fine start to the season when they play away to top of the table Yeovil in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, May 30.
Yeovil have won three of their four matches this season - the other was abandoned - and have a two-point lead over second-placed Ilminster.
Wellington, who gained a convincing seven-wicket home victory over North Perrott in their latest game, are 17 points behind Yeovil, both sides having played the same number of games.
Wellington 2nd XI will be looking to move off the bottom of Division One in the Somerset League when they play at home to Weston super Mare 2nd XI.
Wellington 3rd XI return to action after a blank Saturday when they play at home to Taunton Deane 5th XI in Division Seven South.
Meanwhile, Wellington’s first team have a third-round tie at home to North Perrott in the 20-overs a side Baker Cup on Monday, June 1 (6p.m.). Wellington will be looking to follow up their win over Perrott only last Saturday.
Wellington came mighty close to winning the Baker Cup for the first time last season when they lost by an agonising 13 runs to Taunton Deane in the final at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
The Deane scored 155-7 in their allotted overs and Wellington looked to be heading for a famous victory before a big crowd when Sri Lankan Lakshan Edirisinghe was run out at the non-striker’s end, having scored 36 in only 24 balls. He had put on 65 in 8.4 overs with skipper Aaron Campbell (26) for the second wicket.
From this point, the Deane gradually played their way back into the match and Wellington ended on 143-7, having at one stage looked set to cause a big shock.
