THERE has been a lot of excitement about women’s cricket this year, much of which has been generated by success of the new Kia Women’s Super League, in which local team Western Storm ended runners up, writes Richard Walsh.

The Somerset Cricket Board enjoyed their own success this summer through the launch of the Active8 initiative undertaken by six clubs from around the county to encourage more women to participate in cricket.

On the back of that success, the SCB are now launching a women’s indoor league and hope that clubs will be interested in being one of the first to get involved!

The Indoor League is a 6-a-side, fast-paced, fun game that’s packed with action, and could be exactly what your club need to keep the ball rolling over the winter months. The format will be pairs cricket, 12 overs per side with four overs per batting pair.

The league will run fortnightly on a Sunday between 2-5pm over a ten-week period beginning October 16.

Any club interested in entering a team or requiring more information, should contact as soon as possible.
