WELLINGTON’S football manager Tim Legg says he will be looking to strengthen his side during the current lockdown.

“We have strength in depth in defence and midfield but we’re light up front,” he said.

“We have been in games when we have been playing well and creating chances but can’t score.

“I feel we are still in the process of building a side. The next stage is progress and then performance.

“I believe we have made progress since the start of the season but it’s frustrating when you cannot score.

“I have a forward in mind and I’m hoping I can sign him, but there’s no hurry during lockdown. That’s my aim during lockdown.

“We have been in with a chance in most games and have only had one really bad result.

“We need to stop giving away goals too early and late on.”

Wellington’s best display so far this season was a 2-2 away draw against title favourites Plymouth Parkway in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League.

Parkway are unbeaten this season and went into lockdown ten points clear of the second-placed side Tavistock.

Wellington led twice against Parkway and were robbed of what would have been a splendid victory by a goal by the home side in the 84th minute, with both the home side’s goals coming from questionable penalties.

Legg admitted: “We have not always enjoyed the best of luck this season. Clearly this was a game we could have won. We have also been involved in two penalty shoot-outs, losing both.”
