With the Wellington pitches wet, Wildcats’ U12 fixture against Wembdon was played on the 3G pitch in Bridgwater.

Without a number of regular players, the Wildcats started brightly. Controlling possession and linking up well as a team the girls started to create chances but struggled to finish.

After a couple of half chances from Wembdon the breakthrough came from an outstanding individual goal from Millie G. After half-time the girls kept up the intensity and created a number of chances. As the game wore on and holding onto a 1-0 lead the Wildcats became a bit stretched. But they stood firm defensively and a player of the match display from Remi S in goal ensured a clean sheet and the win.

Wildcats Under 13s returned to action with a home clash against Shepton Mallet, delivering a confident and composed performance to secure a 2-0 win. Wellington’s opener came through a moment of quality. Bella W whipped a dangerous ball across the Shepton penalty area, and Iyla J reacted sharply to slot home.

The second half saw Wellington raise the intensity and with 15 minutes remaining, that crucial second goal finally arrived. Bella W crowned an outstanding performance by unleashing a powerful strike, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance and sealing victory in style. Evelyn S earned a well-deserved POTM for her rock-solid display at full-back. A special mention also goes to goalkeeper Tallilah T.

Wildcats U14s played Ilminster in the League Cup and they wasted no time making their presence felt. Ruby A and Cheyenne both came close to breaking the deadlock with early chances. London A took control of the midfield, dictating play with confident passing, strong runs on the ball, and determined tackling.

Flo N and Alisha J entered the pitch and immediately made an impact, making sharp runs and going agonisingly close to scoring. At half-time, it remained 1–0.

The second half demanded even more effort, as Ilminster came out determined and applied pressure from the start. Faith D came to the rescue on a couple of occasions, making important saves to keep the lead intact. Back on the attack, the Wildcats struck again, Flo grabbing her second of the game, beating Ilminster’s excellent goalkeeper to make it 2–0. After the goal, the defence (Anya, Georgie, Leah and Gracie) stood strong, supported brilliantly by Casey O in front of them.

Wildcats not only secured another victory but celebrated yet another clean sheet and now face Midsomer Norton in the next round.

Wildcats Under 16s face Bishops Lydeard, who play in a division above them, in the League Cup. Lydeard proved a quality side and scored at regular intervals.
