ON A crisp winter’s morning on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields School , Wellington Wanderers Under 11s produced a superb all-round display to overcome the reigning champions Bridgwater Wolf Pack in the second round of the U11 Knockout Cup.
With confident passing, relentless energy, and a touch of class in front of goal, the young Wanderers sealed a memorable 5–0 victory - and deservedly secured their place in the next round of the competition.
From the very first whistle, Wellington signalled their intent to attack the opposition. Their movement off the ball and crisp, composed passing unsettled the visitors, creating several early opportunities.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half, when Rex B calmly finished after a neat team move. Moments later, he doubled the lead with another composed strike, giving the Wanderers a well-deserved 2–0 advantage at the half time interval.
Half-time brought several changes, but there was no drop in intensity or focus. Wellington continued to press high, win back possession quickly, and link up beautifully across the pitch.
The second half belonged to Oakley S, who produced a memorable hat-trick, sealing a commanding 5–0 victory for the home side. Every player contributed to a complete performance from the young Wellington team.
From solid defending to quick transitions and creative attacking play, the team demonstrated both skill and togetherness against tough opposition.
Wellington Wanderers now progress confidently into the next round, having knocked out the cup holders in some style. It was a great performance against a team who had been hoping to repeat last season’s success.
A huge thank you goes to all parents for their positive support on the sidelines, and to the team’s sponsors Roadchef (shirt sponsor) and R&M Motor (ball sponsor) for their continued backing of the team throughout the season.
