WELLINGTON A went on the rampage by beating fellow strugglers Wyvern United 10-0 in the Premier Division of the Centregreat Taunton & District Saturday Football League.

With many matches on grass called off because of the bad weather, the game was played on the 3G pitch at Court Fields School.

Wellington, who had won only one of their previous league matches, led 4-0 at half time before turning on the style after the interval.

Tom Scarlett and Ben Evett both netted twice, with the other goals coming from Jordan Sellick, Alfie Hill, Aiden Trott, Luke Perry, Matt Brereton and Tom Davies.

“It was obviously our best display of the season,” said manager Warren Toth afterwards. “There was some good build-up play to the goals.”

Wellington’s win came only three days after they knocked out Old Inn 98 in the West Somerset Rose Bowl following a penalty shootout after the sides had fought out a 5-5 draw with Sellick scoring four goals.
