WITH two of their games postponed in one night earlier this week, Wellington Football Club will be hoping their first team fixture at home to title-chasing Clevedon Town in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League goes ahead tomorrow (Sat, 3p.m.).

Wellington were due to play at Street on Tuesday night but the game was called off after a lunch-time pitch inspection while Wellington Town were due to play away to Yeovil Town in the Western Counties Youth League - and this was called off even later.

"I don't think anyone thought our game (youth) would be on because it had been raining heavily all night and during the morning," said Town's assistant-manager Andy Govier. "Both games should have had morning inspections. It was obvious they were doubtful - why leave it so late?

"All the players have to be told as soon as possible, especially our college lads who would have arranged to leave early."

Wellington, who have now had two first team matches postponed in a row, will have to be at their best if they are going to avoid conceding the season's double to Clevedon who beat them 5-0 on their own ground early in October.

They will also have to play better than in their last game when they lost 5-1 at home to Nailsea & Tickenham at the beginning of the New Year. They are currently second from bottom, while Clevedon are lying second.

Meanwhile Wellington Reserves, second in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League, play away to Teignmouth Reserves while Hemyock are home to University 5ths in Division Three.

Wellington A, top of Division One in the Taunton Saturday League, visit Wembdon Reserves, while Wellington Reds will be looking to step up the pressure at the top of Division Two, when they play at Porlock.

In Division One of the Somerset Women's League, Wellington Wildcats visit Bishops Lydeard Reserves on Sunday while Wellington Ladies entertain Porlock, who received a walkover from their opponents last Sunday (2p.m.).

There is a full programme of matches in the Taunton Youth and Somerset Girls Leagues.
