WELLINGTON AFC have announced that Richard Cherry will be continuing as manager of the club's first team.
Cherry steered Wellington to 13th place in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League last season - their best position in years. At one stage early in the season they were lying sixth.
"We're delighted that Richard will be carrying on as manager," said Wellington chairman Mike Hall.
Portishead Town were the outstanding side in the Premier Division last season, winning the championship by a five-point margin from runners-up Clevedon Town, and the Les Phillips Cup after beating Brixham AFC 3-1 in the final.
It was a miserable season, however, for Welton Rovers who won only one of their 38 matches - they also drew one - and have been relegated to the first division.
Wellington will be playing several pre-season friendlies before their season in the Jewson League gets underway on Saturday, July 26.
