WELLINGTON face playing five away matches in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League in the next 15 days, writes Barry Knott.
“It is not the way the fixtures originally unfolded,” said manager Clive Jones who added: “The bad weather has meant the postponement of a number of games. All sides have been affected.”
Jones began this season with a target of 40 points for the season and they are currently on 38.
“I knew this would be a difficult season but now I’m looking for two more wins,” he said.
Three of the forthcoming fixtures are in midweek which presents problems with players having to get time off work.
First up tomorrow (April 19) is a game against Brislington who are below Wellington in the table but have played three fewer games.
Wellington’s other games are against Hengrove Athletic on Saturday, Longwell Green Sports, Melksham Town and Cadbury Heath.
Meanwhile Jones, who ended speculation about his future last week by announcing he would be continuing as manager, plans to appoint an assistant manager.
“I’ve not had a proper assistant manager before although I’ve had people to help me,” he said. “I also have someone in mind and I have talked to him.
“I have plans to do some things differently next season. I know what I want to do.”
Jones has also expressed his concern at losing two recent games to goals scored during injury time. “We seem to run out of steam - and that’s fitness,” he said. “This season has been a learning curve for some of the players.”
