WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones says he is struggling to sign new players at the moment, writes Barry Knott.
He said last night: “It is difficult attracting players to the club when you’re bottom of the table.”
He reckons Tim Legg, Carl Jones, Sam Jones and Conor Bryant, who all missed the 3-0 home defeat by Bridgwater Town in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League, will not be available for Saturday’s away game against Westbury United through injury.
Josh Wadham, who has made himself available for Wellington for the last two games, has returned to Bideford. However, Tom Welch returns in goal which frees up Mitch Woodgate to play out on the field.
“Bridgwater were the best side we’ve played this season,” said Jones. “We’re not getting much luck at the moment. We lost Conor Bryant in the warm-up and Sam Bryant is struggling with a hamstring problem.
“We have a lot of injuries in the senior ranks which means we have to play inexperienced players.”
Wellington Reserves are home to Bow Amateur Athletic in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League (2.30 p.m.) while top of the table Hemyock are away to Axmouth in the third division.
Wellington A, the early leaders of the second division in the Taunton Saturday League, play North Petherton Reserves in the Seward Cup at Castle Sports Centre on Friday night, while Moortown are without a game because their opponents, Old Inn, have withdrawn from the league.
