WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones has set a target of 20 points from his side’s remaining 13 matches in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League, by Barry Knott.

It should have begun last night with Wellington travelling to Brislington but the game was called off at midday because of "water on the pitch."

"I’m looking for at least six wins and two draws," said Jones whose side are in 16th spot but have games in hand on some of the teams around them.

"We will have to improve if we’re to achieve this target."

Club captain Sam Bryant would have been in the starting line-up last night along with ex-Street striker Charlie Bridges who has not been able to play until now because of a four-match suspension.

But Wellington would have been without the suspended Sam Towler and Tim Legg, who was working. Legg will be back for the home game against Odd Down in the league on Saturday but Towler must sit out another match.

Bryant, who suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury nearly two years ago and has barely played since, played 45 minutes for the reserves on Saturday and scored twice in the 5-3 home win over their Chard counterparts.

Wellington, who still have much work to do to avoid relegation from Division One in the Devon and Exeter League, are away to fourth-placed Colyton while Wellington Thirds are away to Cheriton Fitzpaine in Division Six.
