Wellington Wanderers visited Wembdon on Saturday morning for the second group stage after winning the first group earlier in the season.

Wellington expected to play some tough opponents after each team had previously won their respective groups in the first round. The boys played great football in each match, the deteriorating conditions proving to be a challenge which they overcame.

Wellington finished top of their group, winning every game. Wembdon 5-0, Ruishton 2-0, Bridgwater VPR 3-1, and Middlezoy 1-0. The goal scorers on the day were; R.Beatty (6), J.Jorge (3), H.Thompson and J.Norman.

Every player played their part in a great team display. T Kennen made some great saves as well as starting attacks from the back.

L. Thorpe was calm and reassuring at the back. Once again, starting attacks from deep with some accurate passing. J. Norman mixing play up in the middle of the park and allowing play to flow. R Beatty always a threat and scored three top quality individual goals. J.Jorge always being direct and constantly causing the defence problems. One of his goals came from some top quality individual play. H. Thompson played tirelessly and linking play brilliantly, also scoring a thunderbolt with his first touch.

This was more than six fantastic individual performances. This was all about the team and some of the football on display was once again breath taking.
