WELLINGTON AFC Under 9s held their end of season presentations at the football club to celebrate another successful season where both the Lions and Tigers made it to the finals in Minehead and enjoyed what was a memorable day.

It has been a season of progress with some new faces joining the team while keeping all the boys together from previous seasons. The teams have had to contend with not only adapting to a larger pitch and 7 a side football but also FA rule changes preventing heading and throw ins. Overall the teams have performed really well and can be proud of their achievements.

A big thanks to all the parents for their support through wind and rain and especially Kat White and Hannah Gibson-Patel for organising catering for home matches. This not only helps to raise funds for the club but also makes the matchdays a little bit more special for both sets of supporters.

Sandy and Mark are both really proud of the boys, not only from the way they approach the matches and the commitment to training they have shown throughout the season but also the behaviour they demonstrate on match days towards officials and opposing teams.

They are demonstrating the values of Wellington AFC and the Football Association of fair play and respect, which is really important than simply winning football matches.

Winners of the individual awards were: Top Assists – Finlay White (Lions), Lincoln Osborne (Tigers); Top Goal Scorer – Jasper Chapman (Lions), Jaian Gibson-Patel (Tigers), Most Improved Player – Learn Vhembo (Lions), Ovanza Obaino (Tigers), Players Player – Cain Cussans (Lions), Kevin Percuic (Tigers), Managers Player – David Vlagea (Lions), Lex Bridgeman (Tigers).

Wellington Under 9s would like to say a big thank their sponsors Howdens and VPK Packaging for our kits and Castle Holiday Parks for their training wear.
