EXPERIENCED back rower Chris Kitto is set to make a playing comeback with Wellington.

Kitto was involved in Wellington 2nd XV’s home game against Wiveliscombe last Saturday in which they won 49-13 at the Athletic Ground to record their first success of the season in Counties Three Somerset South.

Wellington’s head coach Bradley Field watched the match and said afterwards: “You would not have thought Chris had been out of the game for two seasons.”

Wellington are hoping that Kitto will be available for Wellington lst XV’s home game against Cullompton in Regional Two South West on Saturday, January 17 (2.30p.m.).

Wellington will be looking to avenge a 43-22 away loss at Cullompton back in early October.

Wellington have yet to win a league game and Field added: “We know we will be going down at the end of the season. It has been a very difficult season because we lost eight good first team players last summer.

“My job at the end of the season will be to try and keep the core of the squad together and, hopefully, strengthen it during the summer.”

Regional Two South West fixtures: North Petherton v Crediton, Wellington v Cullompton, Winscombe v Penzance & Newlyn, Teignmouth v Okehampton, Wadebridge Camels v Weston super Mare, Ivybridge v Tiverton.

Wellington 2nd XV have a tough away match in the league away to Wells who are 100 per cent after ten fixtures. Despite their victory over Wiveliscombe, Wellington remain bottom of the table on minus nine points.

Meanwhile, Wiveliscombe will be looking to consolidate their position at the top of Counties One Western West when they play away to bottom side Paignton who have won only two games this season.

Wiveliscombe have a seven-point lead over second-placed Paignton, both sides having played 12 matches.
