FORMER British Lion, England and Gloucester rugby player Mike Teague will be at Wellington Rugby Club on Friday.

Teague, who won 27 England caps and was an integral part of the 1991 World Cup squad, will be the main guest at the club’s first celebrity dinner of the year.

He is probably most famed for his appearance in the brutal 1989 Lions series against Australia when, after missing the first test with injury, put in match-winning performances which saw the Lions win the test series two-one.

The Wellington club is looking to celebrate the launch of the Lions’ Test series with the All Blacks by organising the event on Friday.

The WWN’s photographer will be at Friday’s dinner.
