WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones will end speculation about his future with the club with an announcement this weekend.

Both the club and Jones have been in talks for the past month. Jones has had offers from at least three other clubs but has ruled out joining another Toolstation League outfit.

Although the Wellington club and Jones have not discussed publicly what has gone on in the talks, it is known the manager may have been offered a playing budget.

Jones has the full backing of the club and supporters but he is thought to want more commitment from the players. He has been unhappy with the number of first team players missing from training.

He wants to be able to field a side capable of beating anyone in the Premier Division but has been unable to field a settled side all season.

Meanwhile, Wellington have two more home game in the league before they hand over the Playing Field to the local cricket club.

They are home to Hengrove Athletic this coming Saturday and play Bridport the following weekend. They have played Bridport three times this season and have yet to win a game.

“Bridport are a good side and I’m surprised they are not higher up the table,” said Jones. “Our target now is to win as many games as possible.

Wellington should be able to field a much stronger side against Hengrove with Joe Chamberlain, Scott Drayton, Jack Porter and goalkeeper Josh Mclean all available again. Porter, who is in the RAF, was ‘stuck in Oman’ over the weekend.

Wellington Reserves are home to highflyers Chagford in Division One of the Devon and Exeter Football League on Saturday, note the 6p.m. kick off, while Hemyock are away to lowly Pinhoe who have a number of games in hand on all the teams above them.
