TOOLSTATION League club Wellington have signed another of the Quick brothers from Bishops Lydeard – Jake, a striker, writes Barry Knott.

He links up again with Miles and Jason who were signed earlier in the season – again from Lydeard.

Both have been regular members of Wellington’s Premier Division side which has struggled with injuries this season.

Meanwhile, Wellington’s rearranged home game against Bridgwater Town in the league on Wednesday was called off by mutual agreement after discussions between both clubs.

The sides were drawing 3-3 at the Playing Field in mid-September when the game was abandoned because of a floodlights failure with only four minutes of the match remaining.

With the season now disrupted by lockdown, it is not known when the game will be played. Much depends on when lockdown ends.

“We would have liked to have played on Wednesday – we were up for it,” said Wellington’s player-manager Tim Legg. “However, we have played a lot of football – against some of the best sides in the division – so perhaps a break is welcome

“We are not happy with the number of points we have got this season, but I believe we are making progress. We know why we are not winning games.”

The lockdown means Wellington cannot train and Legg has asked his players to keep training on their own to keep fit.

“We have struggled to field a settled side and this has made it very difficult,” he added. “The break will enable some players to have a rest and get over a few bumps and bruises.”
