WELLINGTON will be in action tonight (Nov 7) when they play at home in a rearranged Les Phillips Cup first round tie against neighbours Willand Rovers (7.30).
The game should have been played last Wednesday but was postponed at short notice.
Wellington have already played Willand on the same ground in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League this season, losing 2-0 after having George Painter sent off. However, Painter is available tonight along with Tom Hawkings. Both have completed suspensions.
George Rogers, 29, will again be in Wellington’s squad after signing from Southern Premier South outfit Tiverton Town. He can play in both midfield and defence.
Wellington’s manager Clive Jones has stressed that although Tiverton have retained his registration Rogers is not a loan signing.
Jones said: “George wants to play regularly which he wasn’t doing with Tiverton. He was often on the bench.
“At the moment we don’t seem to retain possession but George is a player who looks good and comfortable on the ball.
“I don’t seem to be able to field a settled side for one reason or another. But I’ve no doubt we will get there.
“It is very difficult when you have players suspended, injured or unavailable.”
Wellington have a match away to Hengrove Athletic in the league on Saturday.
Wellington Reserves end another enforced break when they play at home to Bampton in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday.
Hemyock are home to Feniton Reserves in the fourth division.
