WELLINGTON AFC have announced that facilities at the Playing Field have passed their Step 5 grading following an FA inspection on Monday.

Senior clubs must adhere to strict criteria for each level of the football pyramid system. The successful grading means the first team can definitely continue playing in the premier division of the Jewson Western League – having secured their survival by beating Welton Rovers on Saturday.

Work to meet the required grading has included the construction of a new spectator stand and additional signage.

Chairman Mike Hall said: “This is great news for the club. A huge thank-you to everyone who has helped us achieve the grading again – and particularly to Jeff Brown for heading up the project.

"We are now planning further improvements to our facilities at the Playing Field including new floodlights which will be installed in August.”

Mike added: “These are exciting times for Wellington AFC.”
