WELLINGTON will be looking to bounce back after their surprise defeat away to Chippenham Park when they play at home to Devizes Town in Division One of the Toolstation League on Saturday (3.00).
Despite dropping five points in their last two matches, Wellington still have a one-point lead over main title rivals Keynham Town who have played one more game.
Wellington’s manager Clive Jones described his side’s 1-0 loss at Chippenham as an “ill-disciplined” performance.
He said: “We did not stick to our game-plan. We have a game-plan for every game and the players know what to do. This defeat has been coming for some time. We have been getting results but not playing all that well.
“Only two of our players played to their true potential. It is a wake-up call. We won’t talk about the championship or winning the league. Perhaps I’ve been putting too much pressure on them.”
Jones felt the game at Chippenham should not have been played because of the frosty conditions. “It was dangerous but I’m not making this an excuse for losing.”
Midfielder Sam Towler, who has been out since before Christmas following an incident involving a car at Bournemouth, is in contention for a return to the side along with Conor Bryant who has been suffering from a groin problem.
Wellington Reserves, whose home game against Witheridge Reserves in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League was postponed because of a frost-bound pitch, are again without a match this weekend.
Hemyock, still third in Division Six despite losing to Central FC, are home to eighth-placed Tivvy Park Rangers while top of the table Wellington Thirds are home to K & M Polonia Exeter in Division Seven.
