WELLINGTON Wanderers Under 11s started their preparations for the new football season with an impressive victory over Moors Youth in an entertaining pre-season friendly at Dobree Park.
In front of a good crowd of supporters, Wanderers produced a confident and energetic display full of quality football, teamwork and determination from the first whistle to the last.
From the early stages, Wellington looked comfortable in possession and moved the ball around brilliantly across the pitch. Their passing and movement continually stretched the Moors side, forcing them to chase the game for long periods and gradually tiring them out. The Wanderers players showed great composure on the ball and worked hard to create space for one another throughout the match.
One of the standout features of the performance was Wellington’s high pressing game. The team pressed aggressively in advanced areas, putting Moors Youth under constant pressure and quickly winning the ball back whenever possession was lost. Their energy and work rate helped maintain control of the game and prevented the visitors from settling into any rhythm.
The match also featured some excellent goals, with Wanderers combining superb individual skill with flowing team play to create several memorable moments. At the other end of the pitch, the defence remained calm and organised, producing a composed performance that provided a strong foundation for the team.
Overall, it was a solid team display and an encouraging performance ahead of the new campaign. Every player contributed and should be extremely proud of their efforts and attitude throughout the game.
A huge thank you goes to all of the parents who stayed behind to help with the nets after the match. The club would also like to thank shirt sponsor Roadchef and ball sponsor R&M Motor for their continued support.
