IN A football clash between last season’s Cup and Plate winners, Wellington Wanderers Under 11s travelled to Bridgwater for a hotly anticipated encounter against their Wolf Pack counterparts. The match lived up to its billing, delivering a thrilling and evenly contested game brimming with grit and skill.

Wellington showed flashes of their trademark passing game, with some slick combinations. However, they struggled to retain possession as effectively as they would normally, with the opposition disrupting their rhythm. Despite this, the Wanderers still carved out several good scoring chances, testing the home keeper on multiple occasions.

The standout moments came from both goalkeepers, who were in inspired form throughout the match. Tom Kennen produced two breathtaking saves in quick succession midway through the first half, keeping his side firmly in the contest. Not to be outdone, the Bridgwater shot-stopper was equally impressive, pulling off a string of spectacular saves to deny Wellington’s attacking threats throughout the game.

What truly stood out, however, was Wellington’s resilience and maturity as they gain experience from every game. Even when under pressure, the Wellington boys dug deep, showing determination and a growing tactical awareness. It was heartening to see players making their own decisions on the pitch, with coaches stepping back to let their confidence and understanding shine through.

Wellington’s performance was another step forward in their development journey. Their class was evident—not just in moments of quality football, but in their attitude, teamwork, and never-say-die spirit.

A huge thank you goes out to our fantastic sponsors, Roadchef who are the kit sponsor, and R&M Motor, who are the ball sponsor, for their continued support this season which is always appreciated. The boys did us proud once again. Onwards and upwards!
