WELLINGTON play two home matches in the Premier Division of the Toolstation Football League over the next four days.
They play former Southern League club Clevedon Town tonight (Feb 28) and fourth-placed Melksham Town on Saturday.
Wellington beat Clevedon 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the Somerset Premier Cup only last Wednesday but they had a very young side out that night.
“I expect them to field a much different side on Wednesday,” said Wellington boss Clive Jones who was delighted with his side’s 2-2 draw at Bitton over the weekend.
“We showed plenty of character and spirit which is something I haven’t seen much of this season. “I was pleased for the lads because they hung in there and at times got on top. We played a lot better than we did against Clevedon.”
Former Bridgwater Town striker George Sinnott will be in the starting line-up for Wellington tonight, having come on as a substitute at Bitton.
The experienced Tim Legg may not be available and Sam Towler, who recently turned down a possible move to Bridgwater, starts a two-match suspension, having collected ten bookings this season. It will be Wellington’s first league game under lights this season.
Melksham are having a fine season but went out of the FA Vase at the sixth-round stage on Saturday, losing 1-0 at home to Thatcham.
“They are an extremely good side and it’s a shame they lost in the Vase,” added Jones whose team remain 15th in the table, but 14 points off the drop zone.
