WELLINGTON’S Under 18 side ended their home programme in South Division of the Western Counties Floodlit Youth Football League on a high by beating leaders Willand Rovers 3-2 at the Carly Press Ground - thanks to goals from Ollie Southcott, and Lewis Oaten (two), including a last-minute penalty.

The lads complete their season away to Tiverton Town on Thursday, April 9. Wellington are currently lying third in the table but Chard Town and Tiverton, who are below them, could finish above them if they win their games in hand.

Willand remain top of the table but Street are only two points behind them and have two crucial games in hand.

The Wellington club would like to thank manager Wayne Oaten and the other coaches for all their efforts over the years.

Meanwhile, Wellington’s first team play two top-five sides in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League over the Easter.

Richard Cherry’s side play away to Barnstaple Town on Good Friday and will be looking to avenge a 4-2 home defeat by the North Devon team in the league on Boxing Day. They also lost 2-1 at home to Barnstaple in the Les Phillips Cup in late February.

Wellington will also be in action on Easter Monday when they play at home to Sidmouth Town (3p.m. kick-off). They lost 3-0 away to the Devon outfit in the league last September.

Wellington drew 1-1 at home to Saltash United last Saturday, only a few days after suffering a disappointing 4-2 defeat on the same ground to Brislington.

Wellington Reserves, who are looking for a top-four finish in the Premier Division of the Stitch2Print Devon & Exeter Football League, entertain Crediton United on Saturday, with the kick-off being at 3p.m. Crediton are down in tenth spot in the table.
