WELLINGTON play their long-awaited first competitive match of the new season when they meet Bodmin Town in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup at Cullompton tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm).
Wellington, who will include as many of eight new faces, were given a home tie but they cannot play at the Playing Field because it is being used by the local cricket club.
“We can’t wait to get started,” said Wellington boss Tim Legg. “It is very important to get off to a winning start. I watched Bodmin in a friendly against Bridgwater. They are an experienced team and it will be a tough test.
“Adam Parker, who played for Plymouth Parkway last season and was the Toolstation League’s top scorer, now plays for them. We will have to keep an eye on him”
Wellington’s first game in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League is away to Cadbury Heath the following Saturday.
Their first home match at the Playing Field is again in the league – against Bridgwater Town on Wednesday, September 16 (7.30pm).
WELLINGTON are set to play Exwick Villa in a friendly on Wednesday and Ilfracombe Town tomorrow, both away.
JASON Quick, one of Wellington’s new signings from Bishops Lydeard, will miss the start of the new season with injury.
Quick, twin brother of Miles, who has also made the move to Wellington, is in plaster after breaking his hand.
