WELLINGTON Football Club’s newly-formed Past Players’ Association are holding their second social event next month.

More than 30 former players attended the first gathering before Christmas, enjoying a fish and chips lunch before watching a first-team match and then socialising afterwards.

Now they are meeting again on Saturday, March 18, for a lunch followed by the Toolstation League first division game between promotion-chasing Wellington and Wincanton.

“We were delighted with the turnout in December,” said vice-chairman Graham Aspin, who made more than 500 appearances for Wellington during his playing career.

“We would love to have even more at the next one - we are encouraging any former players from our sides to come along, not just first-teamers.”

The lunch costs £10, including match admission, and to book, contact Graham on 07771-533856 by March 13.
