WELLINGTON continue their build-up to the new football season with a friendly at home to Middlezoy Rovers tomorrow (Sat, July 12).

The match will be played on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields School and will kick off at 2p.m. on what is expected to be another very hot day.

Middlezoy played in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League last season where they finished second from bottom, winning only five of their 30 league matches.

Wellington played on the same pitch last weekend where they put up a spirited fight before losing 2-0 to Brixham, who will be playing in the Southern League this season after being promoted. Both of Brixham’s goals were scored in the second half.

Next up for Wellington will be an away match against Southern League neighbours Willand Rovers on Wednesday, July 16.

Wellington’s season in the Premier Division of the Jewson League begins on Saturday, July 26, when they make what will be their longest journey of the campaign into Cornwall to take on Helston Athletic. Wellington finished 13th last season - their highest position in years.
