A FIRST half brace from Ollie B and a goal from Seb N the other side of half time saw Wellington Town run out comfortable 3-0 home winners against Hutton Rangers in the first round of the Somerset County Under 15 KO Cup this past Sunday.

Wellington - who have now lost only once in their first four games of the season - looked menacing in attack from the start, Ollie B grabbing the first goal of the game inside of five minutes before doubling his tally on the ten minute mark.

Town, always threatening, created other scoring chances to extend their lead as the half wore on; Reece B, Zac F and Ryan M all denied by the visiting keeper as Welly went into the half-time break with a two goal cushion.

Town started the second period as they did the first, Sam A turning provider as Seb N slotted home the third on the 45 minute mark to extend their lead. Welly could have added a fourth - Matt T's header sailing agonisingly over the bar on 50 minutes as the hosts threatened to run away with the game.

But Hutton, to their credit, were still creating chances of their own; goalkeeper George B making a a string of fine second-half saves to deny the visitors as Town's defence held firm. Ollie B, in search of his hat-trick, came close in the final quarter as Town continued to threaten.

But it was not to be; George B's one-on-one save in the dying minutes to deny Hutton a consolation goal was to be the final act of an entertaining fixture - one that sees Welly progress into round two of the County Cup following a fine team display..
