WELLINGTON have no thoughts of pulling out of the Jewson Western League despite their 10-1 hammering at Buckland in mid-week.

Chairman Mike Hall, who is currently running the side, said: "It's early days yet and we are doing everything we can to develop the squad to compete in what is an incredibly tough premier division.

"We always knew this season wasn't going to be easy following the departure of Richard Cherry and then a large number of players.

"But the attitude of the lads who have come in has been superb and I'm confident we can turn things around.

"The defeat at Buckland was obviously a reality check but sometimes these are the things that teach you the most.

"We have a couple of new faces on the way to hopefully add some experience to what is a really young squad.

Things do not get easier for Wellington who play away to neighbours Willand Rovers in the FA Cup tomorrow (Sat).

Hall added: “Saturday's game against Southern League opposition is obviously going to be really tough. "And, after the Willand game, we have no midweek fixture which will give us a chance to look at applicants for the manager's job."
