WELLINGTON will be looking to avenge an 11-0 thrashing - believed to be the biggest in the club’s history - when they play at home to Willand Rovers in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League on Saturday (3.00).

Wellington were 3-0 down in six minutes in the match at Willand in September (the 13th!) and 7-0 down after 29 minutes.

Ironically, Wellington’s manager is now Clive Jones who enjoyed 15 successful years with the Devon club before moving on for “a fresh challenge.”

He said last night: “They gave us a lesson in how to play football. It was just one of those nights.

“We will certainly make it tougher for them on Saturday.”

“They are out of all cup competitions, so they are making the league their priority. They are certainly capable of winning the league.”

Wellington go into the match without top scorer Ian Bellinger who could be out for six weeks with a leg injury while Sam Towler, who scored twice in the 4-2 home win over Cadbury Heath, is suspended.
