WELLINGTON Wildcats came together at Rumwell Farm to celebrate a remarkable winter in the Somerset Women’s League, honouring players who made a huge impact on and off the pitch during the 2024/25 season.

The awards recognised the achievements of players across all areas of the team — from lethal finishing to defensive prowess, from improvement and character to pure team spirit.

Geoff Hamlyn started the evening by giving thanks to John and Julie Sellick for their years of dedication as they moved on from the Wildcats during the season. Thanks were also given to supporters and sponsors while Wildcats captain Grace Winter made a number of presentations to the volunteers who have assisted the ladies this season.

The Top Goalscorer award went to Ebony Sellick, whose ability to find the net when it mattered made her a constant threat to opposition defences. Whether it was a decisive late winner or a well-taken opportunity in a busy penalty area, Ebony’s goals were a key part of the Wildcats’ success.

The Goal of the Season was a close call in a strong field of nominees, but it was Jess Regan’s stunning strikes from the right wing — not once but twice — that stood out. The first against Combe St Nicholas and the second against Bishops Lydeard demonstrated remarkable confidence and finishing ability.

Robyn Stockman received the Most Improved Player award for her dramatic progress over the course of the season. Her growth was a testament to hard work, perseverance and willingness to learn.

The Clubman of the Year award went to Grayson Kennard, a true team player who stepped up in a range of roles, not least when deputising in goal and making crucial saves, including a number of fine efforts in the cup victory over Frome Town.

The Peter Ayers Award, honouring character, humility and kindness, was presented to Grace Winter, who has become a role model for her teammates with her maturity, generosity and ability to lift everyone’s spirits.

The Supporters chose Leah Morrell as their Player of the Year in recognition of her relentless effort, toughness and match-winning performances — a clear favourite amongt fans for all the right reasons.

The Manager’s award fell to Emily Ayers, a defender whose calmness under pressure, discipline and ability to chip in with goals made her a key part of the team’s success.

Lastly, the Players’ Player of the Year — the award that means the most within the team — went to Robyn Stockman, reflecting the huge respect and admiration her teammates have for her contribution all season. She’s grown in confidence, added new elements to her game, and delivered in big moments — a true leader on the pitch. As the Wildcats celebrate these achievements, the future certainly looks bright for the team.
