WELLINGTON Wildcats Under 11s delivered another impressive display against a strong Shepton Mallet side.
From kick-off, Wildcats set the tone with relentless pressing, high energy, and excellent teamwork. Their cohesion was evident in every area of the pitch. Defensively, they remained calm and composed, reading the game superbly to cut out Shepton’s attacking threats.
In midfield, Wildcats showed intelligence and composure, linking defence and attack with smart passing and movement. The forwards kept the opposition under pressure by making sharp, purposeful runs and creating scoring opportunities. It was a complete team performance full of effort, attitude, and spirit. Isabelle G was named Player of the Match for her composed and commanding play, rounding off an all-round performance full of promise and confidence.
Under 13s won 1-0 against Chew Valley away, with a goal from Bella W to make it her fifth this season. POTM: goalkeeper, Tallilah T – who has kept three clean sheets so far this season.
The Under 14s faced a tough challenge away at Wembdon but displayed remarkable persistence and positivity throughout a demanding match. The Wildcats started brightly, defending well and creating early chances, but Wembdon took the lead against the run of play. Despite conceding several goals before halftime (4–0), the team never lost spirit, continuing to show determination and unity.
After halftime, their renewed focus was evident as they pressed forward, looking to convert their effort into goals. Even as Wembdon extended the lead, the Wildcats stayed motivated and encouraged one another. Their persistence paid off in the second half when sustained attacking pressure earned a penalty. Faith D stepped up confidently to slot it home, making it 7–1 and giving the team a well-deserved moment of celebration. Though Wembdon added a late goal to finish 8–1, the Wildcats’ resilience, teamwork, and enthusiasm stood out. Casey P earned Player of the Match honours for her outstanding energy, grit, and all-round contribution.
The Under 15s hosted Ilminster in a rematch following the previous week’s fixture, producing a closely contested game full of quality and determination. The first half was even, with both sides displaying positive, attacking football. Defenders Jess B and Hallie SH were outstanding, thwarting Ilminster’s advances, while attackers Isla C and Mckayla H led the line strongly, supported by Faith NH, Lacey BG, Emily P, Kacie W, and Lily F.
Despite chances at both ends, the first half ended goalless. Playing into the wind after the break, Wildcats fell behind to a superb long-range strike, before Ilminster doubled the lead from a corner. The hosts responded immediately through excellent link-up play between Frankie P and Faith NH, setting up Mckayla H to pull one back and make it 2–1. Despite battling injuries and pushing hard for an equaliser, the Wildcats couldn’t find the finishing touch. Ilminster held firm to secure victory, but the Wildcats’ character and commitment shone through. Jess B, the captain, was named Player of the Match for her exceptional leadership and adaptability across multiple positions.
This coming Saturday, November 1, Wildcats play away to North Curry in U11s South, while Wildcats U12s are also away - to Ilminster in South section. Wildcats Under 13s entertain Minehead at the Rec (11.30a.m.) while Wildcats U14s play Wessex - also at the Rec (9.30 a.m.).
Wildcats U15s visit Midsomer Norton and the Under 16s travel to play Minehead.
