WELLINGTON Wildcats girls have enjoyed another weekend of competitve matches with the highlight being the Under 15s' fightback at home against Berrow, falling 2-0 behind before winning 3-2 with a last-gasp penalty.
Match reports - Under 11s vs Bishops Lydeard. The U11s delivered another spirited display, full of determination and teamwork, against a well-organised Lydeard side. From the first whistle, the Wildcats pressed high, tracked back tirelessly, and competed for every ball with real energy. Their confidence continues to grow week by week, reflected in their strong communication and collective effort. The defence stood firm, reading the game superbly and breaking up play with excellent tackles. In midfield, the team linked up intelligently, showing great awareness in possession, while the forwards made clever runs and created several good chances.
It was an encouraging all-round performance full of effort, attitude, and resilience. Player of the Match: Abbeygail T.
Under 12s vs Bishops Lydeard. The Wildcats started strongly, taking an early lead when Emilia S delivered a perfect cross for Hetty H to finish first time. Despite losing their captain Hetty H to injury soon after, the team adapted well and extended their lead through Emilia S. Lydeard quickly responded to make it 2–1, but just before half-time, sustained pressure from the Wildcats saw Sara M slot home after a mistake from the opposition goalkeeper.
After the break, Wildcats controlled the game, showing great composure even as Lydeard fought back. A fine strike from Millie G sealed the 4–1 victory. The whole squad worked tirelessly, displaying great energy and team spirit. Player of the Match (Opposition): Summer H. (Managers): Emilia S.
Under 13s vs Wessex Youth. The U13s faced a familiar challenge against rivals Wessex Youth, with both sides eager to break the pattern of goalless draws from last season. The Wildcats dominated possession and played confidently through midfield, creating several promising openings. Despite their fluid play and creativity out wide, the final touch proved elusive.
The defence remained calm and composed throughout, cutting out danger and keeping Wessex at bay. The match finished 0–0 after another hard-fought encounter, but the Wildcats can take real pride in their teamwork, discipline, and determination. Player of the Match: Edie L.
Under 15s vs Berrow. In a dramatic home fixture, the U15s came from behind to earn a thrilling 3–2 victory over Berrow. After going 0–2 down despite a bright start, the Wildcats regrouped at half-time and produced their best football of the season.
Dominating the second half, they showed creativity, quick passing, and relentless energy. Faith NH pulled one back with a strike inside the box, before Flo S levelled the game with brilliant footwork. In the closing minutes, Faith NH was fouled in the box and calmly converted the resulting penalty to complete the fightbackcomeback. Player of the Match: Flo N, for her skill, drive, and teamwork.
Under 16s vs Burnbridge Wanderers: The U16s continued their excellent form with a commanding 4–0 win over Burnbridge. Emilia S starred with a first-half hat-trick, showcasing sharp finishing and composure in front of goal.
The Wildcats maintained control throughout, combining attacking intent with solid defensive organisation. Leah M added her first-ever goal for the club and earned Player of the Match for her outstanding midfield performance. The result capped a superb team effort and underlined the Wildcats’ growing confidence and consistency.
