MIDFIELDER Glen Wright is expected to continue as captain of Wellington’s Toolstation League side.

The team’s manager, Tim Legg, said: “I won’t be naming the captain until I know my full squad but it’s likely to be Glen. He’s such a committed player who gives 100 per cent – and he’s got a splendid attitude.”

Wellington’s three senior sides returned to pre-season training this week, with the A team first up on Tuesday, followed by the firsts on Wednesday and the Reserves on Thursday.

“The Toolstation League still cannot give a date when the season will start and I still cannot register players,” said Legg, who starts his first full season in charge. “We still have to follow the Government guidelines.

“If I were a gambling man I would like to think the season will start in mid-September. But it won’t be until crowds are allowed back into games.”

Legg also stressed that players attending training sessions must contact the respective managers otherwise they will be ‘turned away’.
