FORMER Wellesley Park and Wellington School student James Carson has been selected to play for the Welsh men’s hockey team at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia, starting today.

James, who has been playing his hockey at Reading Hockey Club with brothers Ed and Tom, could gain his 50th cap during the tournament.

While the Wales’ team will be the lowest seeded side competing, they will be looking to build on their success of 2017 where they claimed the accolade of the highest climbers in the world rankings. No doubt the Commonwealth Games challenge will be tough, with Wales drawn in pool B against India, Malaysia, Pakistan and England.
