OAKE Manor Golf Club has hosted one of the most prestigious fixtures of its season - the annual Captains verses Ex-Captains Match.
This event once again brought together past and present leaders of the club in a celebration of heritage, leadership and golf. The event was hosted by the current club captain Richard Goodman and Graham Salway took on the role of Captain for the Ex-Captains team.
Eight fourball better ball matches were played. The Ex-Captains displayed consistency and composure throughout the day to win by 6 games to 2.
The atmosphere was light-hearted and convivial - a true testament to the enduring friendships and sporting traditions that define Oake Manor Golf Club.
Andrew Thompson was the overall winner of the Saturday Stableford, scoring 43 points. Second in division 2 was Harry Forknall with 41 points and Nathan Gully was third with 37 points. Alfie Farndell won division 1 with 39 points, Graham McGann came second with 38 points while Richard Barker was third, also with 38 points. Tim Gamlin was the division 3 winner with 39 points, Wayne Milton was second also with 39 points while Martin Ayliffe came third with 37 points.
John Symonds won the Sunday Stableford scoring 39 points with Simon Mankin second on 38 points and Connor Perry third, also with 38 points.
Mike Shaw won the Seniors Section Gross Championship for the sixth time with a score of 74, Richard Crouch came second with 76 and Nigel Foster was third with 79.
Richard Crouch narrowly won the Seniors Section nett Championship with an amazing score of nett 62, eight shots under par, pushing Malcolm Holmes into second place with nett 63, while John Matravers came third with nett 66.
Philip Porter won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford with 39 point, with James Macey in second place with 38 points while Roy Smitheman came third with 37 points.
