FORMER England and Somerset cricketer Ian Blackwell won Division One in Oake Manor Golf Club’s Saturday Medal, scoring a seven-under par nett 63 – the best of the day.

The event was well supported with 160 golfers taking part – and there was some excellent scoring. Graham Whiskin came second in Division One with nett 65, Lee Ayres was third with nett 67 and Chris Flack was fourth – also with nett 67.

Robert Jenkins won Division Two with nett 65, Richard Beesley was second with nett 66, Anthony Date was third, also nett 66, and Robert Stevens was fourth with nett 67. Bernard Reed won Division Three, scoring nett 64, Glyn Pearce came second, also with nett 64, Jonny Cole was third with nett 66 and Anthony Birtwhistle was fourth, also nett 66.

Clare Tough won the Ladies Ultimate Collection Trophy in the Tuesday Stableford Competition. She scored 40 points, narrowly beating last year’s Ladies Captain Ros Shepherd, also 40 points, on countback. Kayleigh Avey was third with 39 points and Shane Bordier was fourth with 35 points.

Peter Merrington won the John Matthews Putter in the Seniors Monday Stableford. Peter won Division Two, scoring 42 points, narrowly beating Alan Harman who also had the same number of points. Peter Brighton was third with 39 points and Robert Davies was fourth with 37 points. Antony Ford won Division One with 40 points, Tony Fulker was second, also with 40 points, Peter Rabbage was third with 38 points and Jeff Copp was fourth, also with 38 points.

Liz How scored 36 points to win Division One in the Ladies Tuesday Stableford, Suzanne Reed came second with 34 points, Pat Snellings was third with 33 points and Charlotte Bolton was fourth with 32 points. Ginny Farnworth-Smith won Division Two, scoring 36 points, Patricia Frazer came second with 34 points, Diane Darlow was third with 33 points and Pam Kinnear was fourth with 32 points.

Robin Trott won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford, scoring 42 points. The next three players in Division One all had 37 points. On countback Ian Daniel was second, Philip Coleman was third and Chris Yeates fourth. Justin Cole won Division Two with 39 points, Paul Rich was second with 37 points, Jim Ward was third, also with 37 points, and Stephen Plowman was fourth with 35 points.

PETER SWANN
