OAKE Manor Golf Club captains held their belated ‘Drive In’ last week, the event having been postponed from the end of March due to the coronavirus restrictions imposed on the sport.

The four captains are: junior Calum Pinn, club Richard Bryant, ladies Sally Jackson and seniors John Beer.

The Captains’ Day competition was a four-ball Bowmaker with the best two scores to count. The clear winners with an incredible score of 98 points were Joe Jewell, Dave Rossillo, Rupert Potter and Baz Roberts. In second with 91 points were Dan White, Ros Thomas, Rob Stevens and Jason Bailey. Equal third on 89 points were the teams of Darren Blows, Darren Couch, Ben Blows and Wes Allen, and Tom Horsey, Rick Connell, Kirk Poulsom and Mike Fordham.

Steve Barham won the Saturday Stableford Competition, scoring 41 points. Second in Division One was Mark Tydings with 40 points, Clive Thorne was third with 37 points and Ross Thomas was fourth with 36 points.

Nigel Foster was the winner of Division Two with 39 points, second was Mike Amos with 38 points, third Dave Jewell with 37 points and fourth Ian Loader with 35 points. Joseph Holmes was the winner of Division Three, scoring 40 points, Nick Fenn was second with 38 points, Guy Backhouse was third with 37 points and Phillip Marsh was fourth, also with 37 points.

An all-section Bogey Competition was held on Sunday of last week. Clinton Kneeshaw won Division One with an excellent score of +6 against the course, Mark Tydings was second with +5, Kieran Ashton was third with +4 and Robert Urmann was fourth with +2. Kathy Salway won Division Two with +4, the best ladies score, Kirk Poulsom was second, also +4, Alan Christian was third on +3 and Steve Pinn fourth with +2.

James Rew won the Junior Open Competition on Wednesday of last week with a gross score of 73. Calum Pinn was second with gross 83 and Noah Jones third with gross 87.

Nigel Foster won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition with 41 points, Chris Yeates was second with 40 points, Richard Maslen came third with 39 points and Phillip Colman was fourth, also 39 points.
